The other day I checked my Start Menu for the usual glance at the news and weather, but I saw only some generic icons instead of live information.

If I opened the relevant apps, all information was there as usual, but not a preview on tiles.

The reason for this annoyance in my case was that I had changed the scaling in Windows, preferring a 112% level that would make everything slightly larger, easier for me to see in my high resolution monitor.

The moment I returned to the default 100% scaling the problem with live tiles disappeared. Then I used this System Font Changer, to enlarge at least the menu fonts without magnifying everything.
