Drag Windows, resize, center instantly and restore them, with Window Manipulator

This is a utility I can’t live without! Whether you work on a laptop or on a large screen you know how annoying it can be sometimes to target the title bar of a window to drag and drop it, or aim at a side or corner to resize it. Sometimes you may just want to have it, even for a while, at the center of the screen, to see something easily, then restore it where it was before.

All of these can be done with a click of the mouse using Window Manipulator, a light program, safe and absolutely free, without any limitations or annoyances. Window Manipulator will let you use your mouse to grab a window not only in the title bar but anywhere on its surface to drag it.

Using instead the other mouse button lets you resize a window by clicking anywhere on its surface and not only on its corner or sides. Note also that Window Manipulator will let you resize windows that are not resizable even by dragging their sides or corners! Usually though some elements of non-resizable windows won’t conform and remain in their initial dimensions.

Using a different mouse shortcut you can bring a window instantly to the center of the screen. The cursor does not even need to hover upon this window, it can be anywhere, and the active window will come immediately to the center. Another mouse shortcut restores this window to its previous position.

Just in case the default shortcuts won’t meet your needs, you can customize them at the program’s settings.

The default Shortcuts are:
Ctrl LeftClick to drag (swap)
Ctrl RightClick to resize (swap2)
Ctrl Shift LeftClick to gather a window to the center (swap3)
Ctrl Shift RightClick to send a windows back to its original position (swap4).

Key modifiers you can use:
# = Win
! = Alt
^ = Control
+ = Shift

To ensure a trouble-free installation, right-click the setup file and select the option “Run as administrator.” You need also to make sure after the installation is complete, that the program folder and files have write permissions. Finally, to avoid UAC prompts upon startup you can include the program in a whitelist of trusted applications.

Enjoy!
