Google Search Previews: disable them in Firefox and Chrome
Excellence AwardUnfortunately Google search preferences provide only an option to disable search guesses from the search box, but not an option to disable the large preview pane that appears automatically when you click on the search results or the little mirror at the right of a result title. If you press the little x at the top right corner, the preview pane will close only temporarily.
If you are annoyed by this behavior, you can get rid of the preview pane permanently by using a free and small script. It will add a link button on Google Search Results to let you toggle off and on the Instant Previews.
Instant Previews will be disabled by default, after you install this script. Whatever you choose (on or off) the script will remember your preference across sessions.
Both versions of the script are zipped. Extract them on a folder of your choice, then drag and drop the JS file on the browser. Firefox users need first to install a small add-on called Greasemonkey. Chrome users can use the script without installing Greasemonkey.
