Disable the Windows Media Player context menus
Upon installation Windows Media Player creates (without asking) some menu entries that appear when you right click on a media file or folder. There is no option in the preferences of WMP to disable these context menus! In fact, their integration in the Windows shell is so tight, that even programs such as ShellExView can not disable them.
I don’t want these menus, first of all because I seldom use WMP (preferring Winamp and VLC), and because I use all the time the shortcut Alt+ F + W to create a new folder, and “Play with Windows Media Player” uses this same shortcut.
You can easily disable WMP context menus by just opening the command prompt (Win + R), and running this command: regsvr32 /u wmpshell.dll
If you need sometime to restore the WMP context menus, run the command: regsvr32 wmpshell.dll
