Recover the context menu option to create new text files

When you right click on an empty space of a Windows Exlporer pane, you see the “New” option, letting you create new documents of some common types, such as MS Word documents, Text documents, etc. Sometimes the option of creating a new text document is damaged and lost. If this has happened with your PC, just open the registry editor (Win+R, the type “regedit” without the quotes) and navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt

When you are there, open the Default key and add the value “txtfile” (without the quotes). That’s it!

To enable or disable even more New Menu options anytime easily you can use a freeware such as ShellMenuNew or ShellNewHandler.
