If the Home Page of your browser is hijacked by Babylon or other malware

If suddenly your browser won’t open the default (Home) page you have configured, a program that you recently installed changed this configuration. It happened to me that instead of Google the browser used a “Babylon” search engine!

You need first to remove the offending application, Babylon or any other similar malware, because you may fix the problem in the browser only to find out that the malware changes again your configuration. You may even like to use a specialized application such SpyBot Search & Destroy to locate further threats. Here is what you should do then to reset your browser’s Home.

In Firefox, go to Tools > Options. On the General tab, delete search.babylon.com or any other URL listed there. Type or paste the new page that should be set as “Home” (e.g. https://www.thefreewindows.com)

In Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet Options, and make the same changes.

In Google Chrome go to the wrench or 3-bar icon at the right top corner, then “Settings,” then “On Startup”. Select the “Open a specific page or set of pages” radio button and click on the “Set pages” link. Remove all the links here by clicking the X next to the URL, and type or paste the home page you prefer. If you don’t want to set a Home page, after you remove the offending links, select the “Open the New Tab page” radio button.
