Gbridge was a freeware that let you synchronize folders, share files, chat and VNC. It extended Google’s gtalk service to a VPN (Virtual Private Network) that connects your computer and your friends’ computers directly.

Note that Gbridge is now a retired project.

However, there are free alternatives of equal and better value.
