AVIAddXSubs is not developed anymore. You can try it and see if it works for you, but you may need to find something else.

To incorporate XSUB subtitles place the avi and its associated (same name) srt (or idx/sub) in the same directory and Drag&Drop the avi on AVIAddXSubs icon or shortcut on your desktop. In 2-3 minutes a new file with divx extension will be created ready to play in your hardware DivX/XVid player. For example, from anyvideo.avi and anyvideo.srt, you get anyvideo.divx. In a similar way you can convert srt to idx/sub, by going to “Configuration 1/SUB 1” and selecting idx/sub instead of XSUB. To view the video just place it together with the generated idx/sub.

Please note that this program aims at showing subtitles in a hardware player and not in the PC. Note also that to configure the program so that subtitles appear in the exact position you want them, there is no other way than experimentation. You can use DivX Player to see the XSUB subtitles in your PC.
