Copy or move to a folder anything you select, using MagicMove

MagicMove is a free program (without the slightest limitation or annoyance), a power tool that you need, if you play a lot with files and folders, downloading, copying, moving, collecting, organizing… MagicMove lets you define a folder and copy or move there instantly and automatically any file and / or folder you find in your way, the moment you select it, by just pressing a keyboard shortcut.

Let’s say you have a folder with a lot of images, documents, programs, songs, whatever. You want to move some of this stuff to a separate folder. You can start examining the source folder and whenever you find a file that needs to be moved, select it, press Ctrl+X, then press Alt+Tab to switch to the destination folder, then press Ctrl+V to paste it, then press Alt+Tab to return to the source folder and continue searching for more files to move… Or you can select (Ctrl+Click) all the files that you need to move, but being in danger of making a mistake, e.g. forgetting to hold Ctrl when you click, and losing your selection in a moment, having to start all over…

With MagicMove, when you see this file that needs to travel away, you just select it and press Ctrl+Shift+K, or any shortcut you want. MagicMove immediately transfers the file to the destination folder, while you continue examining the source folder for more, without requiring any other input from you — no Alt+Tab, nothing! You won’t even face prompts, since all files that already exist in the destination folder (if any) with the same name are quietly overwritten.

You just place the destination folder at a side of your screen and watch it get filled with files that you throw from the other side while you browse the source folder and press the MagicMove shortcut. When you finish working with the first category of copies / transfers, if you need to start a second session in a new destination folder, you just run MagicMove as if it were closed (no need to close it first!) The program immediately asks for a destination folder. You select one (or paste its path) and start filling it with all the files and folders you throw from the source folder using the MagicMove Shortcut.

The default keyboard shortcut for moving stuff is Ctrl+Shift+K and for copying is Ctrl+Shift+L. If you right click the program’s system tray icon you can replace these shortcuts with whatever you prefer. If you downloaded MagicMove before November 22, 2017, download version 1.1 which fixes a bug with the keyboard shortcuts.

MagicMove is a program I can’t live without, since I have so many files and folders to copy and move around all the time. If you are in need of organizing these crowded folders, you will find in MagicMove a great helper!

To ensure a trouble-free installation, right-click the setup file and select the option “Run as administrator.” You need also to make sure after the installation is complete, that the program folder and files have write permissions. Finally, to avoid UAC prompts upon startup you can include the program in a whitelist of trusted applications.
