Freeciv Strategy Game: Lead your tribe from Stone to Space age

Freeciv is a free strategy (empire-building) game, inspired by the history of human civilization. The game commences in prehistory and your mission is to lead your tribe from the Stone Age to the Space Age. In Freeciv the game players can decide what the rules will be! This means that Freeciv can be a different game each time you play. The opportunity to make the game complex also means you can make it quite simple to play. You can even play one of the default scenarios.

You can play Freeciv solo, with one or more artificial intelligent players (AIs) run by the computer, in real time and worldwide by hosting a game through the internet, or in any number of combinations – e.g. two human players could play with many AIs, all run on two machines connected to one another. You can play Freeciv with players running computers with different operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, Mac) in a variety of human languages (French, Greek, Spanish, English, etc.).

To start playing Freeciv you only need the client version on your computer in the language you choose. Once you start it, you can join a game already in progress, or (better) a game that is about to start.
