Boot from a CD, DVD or USB disk to clean your PC from viruses, with Kaspersky Rescue Disk

Kaspersky Rescue Disk is a free antivirus method you can use to boot a heavily infected PC and clean it easily and safely.

In my opinion, the best way to clean a seriously infected PC is to restore a system image, which of course means that you create system images or “clone” your OS as often as needed to avoid re-installing your software or critical OS updates.

However, if you don’t have a system image or it is very old, or for any reason you’d prefer to clean your current installation from viruses, Kaspersky Rescue Disk is a free and powerful way. You can burn the Kaspersky Rescue Disk on a CD or use a program like Easy2Boot to create a bootable USB drive. Then just boot from this CD/DVD or USB drive to enter the Kaspersky rescue environment.

As you can guess Kaspersky lets you choose what to scan, but if you are not sure about the location of the virus you’d better scan at least the whole OS drive, boot sectors, etc. You may like to quarantine what seems to cause your problems instead of deleting it, just in case you are wrong and you need a suspicious file. You can make the scan faster by selecting only certain file types to check for viruses. Kaspersky Rescue Disk is able to receive updates.
