Protect your children from unsafe web sites, with ProCon for Firefox
http://www.thefreewindows.com/?p=2224
September 2009 »ProCon is a free content filter for Firefox browser. It can filter any type of content on any web page. If left on default options, ProCon limits itself to filtering pages that contain explicit content automatically, based on the text. ProCon can also be used as a profanity filter. It can also use a whitelist for trusted sites.
Features: It hides itself, removing the ProCon shortcut from Firefox’s Tools menu; Status icon reveals ProCon’s current state of filtering including: Filter On, Filter Off, and Trusted; Locks the Add-ons window, to prevent ProCon (or any other extension) from being altered; Locks the configuration page, to prevent ProCon’s settings from being altered; Right-click to add keywords to the filter lists through Firefox’s context menu; Right-click adding to Whitelist; Shortcut Ctrl+Alt+*User-defined key* to call ProCon’s settings using the keyboard; Block All Traffic – Prevents anyone (without permission) to access any site whatever, except for whitelisted sites (only if the whitelist feature is enabled); Informs the user about the pattern that caused a page to be blocked; Customizable warning message; Redirect the user to a defined site when inappropriate content is detected; Export settings to a text file.
If you hide ProCon from Firefox’s Tools menu, from the status bar, and lock the Add-ons list, there remain two simple methods to change its options; first, you could use the shortcut keys that were set in the settings, by default (if the user hasn’t changed it) it’s Ctrl+Alt+P, and second, you could access the settings by adding ProCon’s toolbar button; to do this, on Firefox click View>Toolbars>Customize… and drag the ProCon button to the toolbar. After that you can click it and access the settings. Of course, the second method is useless if you want ProCon to be hidden.
