Expand the Thumbnails view in Windows Explorer, with ThumbView

Rating: 3.5
June 2009   »

ThumbView is a free and small utility that will enamble thumbnail view and the relevant tooltips in Windows Explorer, for image types not supported by Windows, including PNG, PSD and TFF. ThumbView started by “thumbnailing” PCX, TGA, DDS and PNG images, but now it supports 19 image types – inside any Explorer window.

Please note that ThumbView works only when you browse a folder having selected “Thumbnails” View. If you are, e.g. in “List” view, then you will still see beside the name of an image file the icon of the program that opens this type, not a preview/thumbmail of the image. If you need a program that will replace the generic file type icons with small thumbnails, then try Xentient Thumbnails.
