searchfilterhost consumes cpu power and increases temperature
You might have noticed that your PC becomes a little unresponsive and/or temperature increases above normal when searchfilterhost.exe is running. This is the indexing services of Windows, cataloguing selected locations of your PC to let you perform fast searches.
To tame searchfilterhost and get back your PC, go to the Indexing Options of the Windows Control Panel.
Uncheck locations/folders containing a lot of files to exclude them from being indexed, and also uncheck the .xml extension. Maybe you’d like to keep only the StartMenu in the list of indexed locations.
After you do this, your index will be rebuilt and you will notice a significant improvement in the performance of your PC. — Enjoy!
