Download TreeSize or FolderSize, to realize the size of your folders
Excellence AwardFolder Size is a shell extension for adding a new page to the Properties dialog for folders and drives. This new page allows you to see the folders and sub folders sizes (in a hierarchical tree). Useful for finding sizes of relatively small folders, otherwise the program needs a lot of time to calculate sizes. (Download Folder Size)
TreeSize Free can be started from the context menu of a folder or drive and shows you the size of this folder, including its subfolders. You can expand this folder in Explorer-like style and you will see the size of every subfolder. Scanning is done in a thread, so you can already see results while TreeSize Free is working. The space, which is wasted by the file system, can be displayed and the results can be printed in a report. There is a zipped version with no need to install and optional shell integration. You can delete undesiredĀ folders directly from inside TreeSize. (Download TreeSize – Project site)
A third utility, called also Folder Size, works only for Windows XP (not in 7 or Vista). It adds a “Size” column in XP Windows Explorer that displays the size of folders, while a new service at the background saves the size of folders for faster use next time you open a branch. If you still use Windows XP you will find it useful enough. (Download Folder Size XP – Project site)
