If you use classic Winamp skins, just pressing the “n” button (while Winamp has the focus) toggles the equalizer on or off.

This shortcut does not work on modern Winamp skins – however, you can download a free  Winamp plugin called EQ Hotkeys, to enjoy the same functionality and even more options.

EQ Hotkeys will let you define a global hotkey for turning on or off the equalizer, and more (global) hot keys to configure the bands.
