Put your monitor to power save mode easily, with Sleeper

With Sleeper it becomes easy to activate power-save mode, protect your battery and your screen. In this page you will always find the latest version. Sleeper is a light, safe and free (without any limitations or annoyances) utility that activates power save mode when you press a keyboard shortcut, or select a tray menu command, or tap a Start menu tile. It includes also other power options you can use whenever you need to, such as restart or shutdown.

Exiting power save mode is as simple as you already know: just press whatever key of your Keyboard or move your mouse. A keyboard shortcut activates Power Save mode directly, while another shortcut presents a Power Menu that will let you choose between several actions, such as Restart, Sign Out, Shut Down, and of course Sleep.

If you are on a tablet (without keyboard), and prefer not to use Sleeper’s Power Menu from the system tray, you can use the SleepNow tile (you will find it in the Start) to activate Sleeper with tile tap. You can pin this tile to the Start or Taskbar as usually.

Tile tap needs administrator privileges, which may give you an UAC / Security prompt: accept and enjoy! This happens only with Tile Tap: keyboard shortcuts as well as system tray commands avoid UAC prompts. Using the Power Menu you can also customize the keyboard shortcuts or even come back to this page to read information, check for new versions or download Sleeper again to use it on other computers. The default keyboard shortcuts are Ctrl+Alt+S, which activates Power Save mode immediately, and Ctrl+Shift+S, which opens the Power Menu. You can also open the Power Menu if you right click Sleeper’s icon in the System Tray.

To ensure a trouble-free installation, right-click the setup file and select the option “Run as administrator.” You need also to make sure after the installation is complete, that the program folder and files have write permissions. Finally, to avoid UAC prompts upon startup you can include the program in a whitelist of trusted applications.

Check also this post if your PC wakes up by itself a few minutes after you put it to sleep — or download right now Super Sleep, a program that makes sure your monitor remains in power save mode until you decide to wake it up pressing a particular shortcut key.

curious if there is any way possible to get this to work over home network? i’d love to be able to install this on a few machines, and when we watch movie in theater room, all other monitors would shut off once i clicked on sleeper or sleepers.
    Thanks for any advice!

  3. Perhaps with a batch file that would run Sleeper on a number of machines?
