Piles for Windows is a free program that simplifies access to recently modified files in any directory you select. It will create a list, easily launched from taksbar, containing recently used files from selected folders, and helps you quickly access you newest downloads, documents you worked on lately and any other files you use often.

You can create a Pile from any directory. Piles for Windows integrates also with Windows Explorer context menu, to let you easily create a pile from a directory.

To open a pile, click on it’s icon in the Taskbar. The Pile will open just above icon, allowing access to 13 recently modified files in the selected directory. Clicking on any item in the list will open the selected file in the associated program.

To create a new pile drag a directory and drop it on the Piles shortcut on desktop; Pin the newly created shortcut to the taskbar — or: Right-click on any pinned Pile in Taskbar, select “Create new Pile”, select directory and name, Pin newly created shortcut to the taskbar.

The program is not very easy to use.
