Edit videos and make color corrections with DaVinci Resolve
DaVinci Resolve is a free program that will let you edit video and make color corrections. The free version limits your jobs to Ultra HD resolutions or lower and it does not support more than one GPU. The download is large (almost 500 MB) and you have to register before you get it.
The interface is split into modules for loading media, editing, color correction and delivery. The main window is airy and most of the app’s features are accessible from a menubar. When you right-click a loaded file the contextual menus just like main menus, can be larger than the app’s window! You can work with layers, nodes, effects, grades, mixers, keys and even plug-ins.
The utility packs a powerful Color Match feature that enables you to set the source and target gamma, as well as the target color space. Image stabilization, 3D tracking, reframing, RGB mixing and HSL curve grading are but a few of the supported functions. You can also create complex video transitions, being also able to edit and mix audio files.
DaVinci Resolve is a powerful program without becoming or appearing unnecessarily complicated.
